Village Residents with a valid Village ID may sign up for 3 training sessions with the Leatherneck Warriors or the This Boat Rocks coaching staff. The Leatherneck Warriors hold their training session at Central Lake every Tuesday morning starting at 9:00 AM. Please have your Village ID and completed waivers with you. The waivers are available for downloading on this website. For more information, contact Jan Mitchell, 954-610-0439 or email mitchelljan1522@gmail.com

This Boat Rocks holds their training sessions twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays at our Central Lake venue from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Each session will include 30 minutes of on-land instruction followed by 25-30 minutes of on-water paddling and coaching.   After the three free training sessions, participants can choose to continue with the This Boat Rocks team as a fun and exercise team, building towards moving on to a competitive team once they have gained more experience with the paddle stroke or you can contact any of the other teams listed on our Grand Master Dragon Boat Club website to request a tryout.

Sign ups for This Boat Rocks at the Central Lake venue can be found at www.thisboatrocks.weebly.com Once someone has contacted you to confirm your scheduled date(s) of practice, please arrive 15 minutes early so that we may check your waivers that you will download and fill out from our website. Please wear comfortable clothes, shoes that can get wet, bring your Village ID, have a bottle of water and the name and phone number of an emergency contact if you don't have wearable ID like a Road ID band.

If you would prefer to paddle at the Lake Sumter location, This Boat Rocks has a beginner boat on Wednesdays and Fridays, leaving the dock at 9:00 AM.  At this location, you will need to be at the dock by the Waterfront Inn no later than 8:15 AM to fill out your waivers, be fitted for loaner equipment and to receive paddle and safety instruction. You may want to save time by downloading the four required waivers here on the Grand Masters Dragon Boat Club website or on the TBR website at www.thisboatrocks.weebly.com.

A third option for learning how to paddle with a dragon boat team can be to sign up for a class with the Enrichment Academy. The catalogue comes out in the spring and fall; look under the Sports section for information on dragon boat paddling instruction.
