Dragonboating at Camp Village (Summer 2026)

Grand Masters Dragonboating Club will be participating again this year with the Camp Village dragonboating.  Sessions are scheduled for Lake Sumter on Thursday, June 18 (8-10AM) and Thursday, July 23 (8-10AM).
Sign ups for the event can be found at districtgov.org under Recreation, Parks and Golf, then down to Programs & Activities, then to Camp Villages and  Summer Program. Under additional summer classes you can find the information on the dragon boat training.
You can also look n the on site under "activity search" we are listed as JFT (Just for Teens) : Dragon Boating for actual sign ups.  Sign ups for the July 23 session will open on Thursday, June 18.

2026 Chicken Race

And it is FOWL PLAY for the Win!

The Grand Masters 2026 Chicken Race happened on May 1st at Sumter Lake.  The 9 Grand Masters Teams came together for a fun and challenging event.  For those who are new to Dragonboating, a chicken race is a short sprint where at the finish line, the drummer has to place or throw a rubber chicken into a basket.  If the chicken doesn’t stay in the basket, your time doesn’t count.  It is fun and surprisingly hard (for the drummer).
